Spend less time in front of your desk and more time in front of your clients.

Blog Title image: Spend less time in front of your desk and more time in front of your clients

Spend less time in front of your desk and more time in front of your clients.

The most common complaint I hear from clients when they first call us at Organised You, is that they spend so much time on paperwork that they never get to see their clients. They feel like they are constantly fire-fighting and not in control of everything they have to do.

It’s no secret that as an industry we’ve seen a huge increase in documentation and regulatory requirements over the past 20 years. Whilst this paperwork has good intentions: ensuring quality of advice and the protection of consumers, it is having a negative effect on advisers who came into the industry because of their love of working with people.

After 20 years working in the Financial Services industry I have been asked on more than one occasion why I’ve never become a financial adviser. The truth is, being an adviser has never appealed to me. I’ve always found pleasure in systems and processes. Creating order where there was once chaos and making things more efficient. In short – I love paperwork, and it’s where my skills lay.

I hope you don’t mind me saying so, but after 20 years in the business I feel able to safely say that that’s not the skill set of a good financial adviser!

The best advisers I work with are technically savvy, experienced, approachable, trustworthy, and knowledgeable. But they are rubbish at paperwork and it’s not where they should be spending their time.

You provide expert guidance to your clients when they have important and potentially difficult financial decisions to make and that is what you do best.

I stick with what I do best, the work that brings me joy, and I encourage my clients to do the same.

Stick with your strengths and outsource your weaknesses – to us.

We can:

  • Sit on hold to providers chasing for updates.
  • Send clients documents and chase them for signatures.
  • Update clients on the progress of their cases.
  • Obtain up to date valuations.
  • Make sure the right documents are in the right place, at the right time,

And we can do all of that on a flexible basis, as and when you need us.

At Organised You, we know how hard is is to hand over work to someone external to your firm. How challenging it is to let someone else take up the reigns when you’ve always done something yourself. We work closely with our clients, giving you one to one support with a team member who will work with you to look after your clients the way you want. We will strive to maintain the same level of service that your clients have come to expect from you.

Next time you’re sat staring at your to do list, remember that you’re just a call away from spending more time in front of your clients, and lest time in front of your desk.
